CITY BASEBALL TEAMS 13 AND 14U
13s and 14s Don't Have a Rec or a HS Season the important unique circumstance involving the Club's 13 and 14U teams is that most all of these City players do not play recreational baseball, the way younger players do, and they do not have school teams, the way the older players do. City's teams at these two ages, 13 and 14U, are more exclusively City ball players and consequently their City baseball year is considerably longer. They play more games in a City Baseball uniform than any of the other ages.
City Baseball's Off Season Training Program for 13 and 14U starts the first week of November and end roughly at the close of February. During this time players train twice a week weekdays and scrimmage or train on a Saturday or Sunday each weekend. Players at 13 are introduced to strength and conditioning training with safe body resistance exercises. This is when the Club's emphasis on strength training begins.
One strength and conditioning session per week in the Off Season is design to promote the value the Club places on physical training away from baseball skills, to teach techniques that they will employ with more earnest as they develop physically, and to teach the fundamental truth that baseball is a strength sport. To this end the Club maintains a 3,000 square foot weight training center within our baseball facility.
The Regular Season for 13 and 14U starts as early as mid-February and runs to the end of July. The Regular Season is a mix of league play and tournament play. Teams can expect to play at least 55 games, and up to 70 games, depending on a team's competitiveness (more competitive teams end up in more tournament games within the same number of events). 13 and 14U City Baseball teams do typically participate in the Seattle Elite League.
A given team's willingness to travel will also vary team schedules, but all 13 and 14U teams will compete in a minimum of 8 weekend long tournaments. Teams typically travel for two or more of these events. Tournament sites over the last two seasons have included Bend, Portland, Yakima, Wenatchee, Pasco, Pullman, and Vancouver B.C.
A few teams, based on their competitiveness and willingness to travel, will travel further, once or twice, to a more competitive event in Las Vegas, Steamboat Springs, CO, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego, or Atlanta as examples.
