CITY BASEBALL TEAMS 8U TO 12U

CITY BASEBALL TEAMS 8U TO 12U
Regular Season following the Off Season Program, City Baseball 8U to 12U Teams are scheduled and organized so as to minimize any conflict with recreational baseball (i.e., Little League or Pony)
With the exception of one possible 12U Team composed of players that have aged out of the Little League Majors Division, it is anticipated that ball players rostered on the Club's 8U to 12U teams will also play recreational baseball, e.g. in a Little League or Pony program in the Seattle area.
Cooperstown
City Baseball 12U teams will have the opportunity to compete in a Cooperstown All Star Village tournament in late July or early August. Not every team will choose to go but the Club will work to accommodate any player who does. City Baseball has sent teams to Cooperstown every year for many years. In 2018 a City played in the Championship game in a 104 team field!
Tournament Play During the Rec Season
City Baseball players, 8U to 12U, are expected participate in their City team's tournament events. The recreational baseball in the Seattle area runs roughly from March 1st to June 10th. During this time each City Baseball 8U to 12U teams will compete in only one weekend tournament per month (possibly two in May with one over the MDW which is a non-Little League weekend) and all but possibly one of these tournaments will be played in the greater Seattle metro area.
The June tournament will be scheduled in between the end of the Little League regular season and the start of the Little League All Star season. The sum conflict thus should be with no more than 3 Saturday recreational games.
Tournament Play in July
Each 8U to 12U team will finish the baseball year with a flurry. Depending on the team's commitment and interest in playing each team will compete in 2 or 3 tournaments in July once the Little League All Season has concluded.
Over the entire baseball year then 8U to 12U Club teams will compete in 7 to 8 weekend tournaments. Depending on a team's interest and willingness to travel one or two of these events will be travel events most likely to a Northwest local. Occasionally 11U or 12U teams will compete in an out of region tournament in Las Vegas or Phoenix as examples.
Select Spring League Play for 10U, 11U and 12U
City Baseball will typically field two teams at each age level, 10 to 12, e.g., Navy and Green. At some ages a new team composed largely of players from tryouts will form a third team. The designation of a third team will vary from one year to the next. One City Baseball team at each of these age level will be compete in a local select spring league such as the Seattle Elite League. A typical select spring league season is 15 games.
Unlike tournament play, where players are expected to participate, participation in select spring league games is optional. Those players who decline will simply be replaced by an interested player (who presumably has no rec baseball conflict that day) from the "pool" of players involving both the Navy and Green rosters. The Navy and Green coaches will coordinate and spread out these spring game opportunities as they reasonably can while also being mindful of any unit's competitiveness.
Over the course of the entire year each 8U to 12U team, between league and tournament play, will play at least 40 games. The more competitive a team is the more games they will ultimately play as more competitive teams will go deeper into tournaments and thus play more on Sundays.
8U and 9U Spring Training and Spring Scrimmage Games
For the 8u and 9U where spring select league play may not be available, and for 8U to 12U generally, spring practices and scrimmage games will be scheduled on Sunday's only during the recreational baseball season. Sundays are a day off for Seattle area rec programs so City can add some baseball here without creating a conflict. Note: for effectiveness sake some teams maybe combined for Sunday events in the spring.
City Baseball's Off Season Training Program for our 8U to 12U teams starts the first week of November and end roughly at the close of February. During this time players train twice a week for 90 minutes, one weekday evening and once on Saturday or Sunday. Depending on the weather teams will endeavor to play scrimmage games on Saturdays or Sundays in February as a means of best preparing players for recreational spring baseball. Off Season offers a Flexible Schedule The Off Season Program for 8U to 12U teams is focused on all around individual baseball skill development. It is expected that most younger players will play multiple sports and have off season conflicts. The Club's Off Season Program accommodates the busy young athlete by making any age appropriate training session available whether originally scheduled as such for their team or not. Changes to a given ball player's Off Season schedule may be made on a week to week basis. The interest of the Club is that all player's attend two trainings per week whenever they can. This is an advantage City Baseball offers, i.e., the size of our Club with 10 to 12 younger teams, provides players with many Off Season training options.
